music,

roaming
entertainers and
more -
Continuous free entertainment is provided on four stages with other
performances roving throughout the festival grounds. From the dance floor at
the Festival Stage, to the Old Time Medicine Show at the end of the road,
there’s something for everyone.
Just down the hill from Johnny's grave, the Festival Stage showcases
performances from musicians and clogger's, to a public address from Abraham
Lincoln himself.
The Folk Stage is the place to
"come and sit 'fer a spell." In the shade of
the trees you'll hear music from the days of Johnny Appleseed. Plenty of
good eatin's nearby too.
The River Stage has performances geared towards the younger audience.
You can meet one of our roving performers, meet Johnny Appleseed, learn about unusual musical
instruments, listen to the storyteller, and even see magic with your own
eyes!
Attend the 10:00 Sunday morning Commemorative Service of Worship celebrating
the life and faith of John Chapman, by the members of the Swedenborg Church.
Learn about this icon's religious beliefs.
The Old Time Medicine Show is Americana on Tour. It's a one-man, comedy show
complete with an antique box wagon which was originally horse-drawn down mud
roads. Meet Doc Barth and Max. They may even ask a member of the audience to
help with the show! Visit the exhibit, stay for the show ---nothing is sold.
You don't even need to be at one of our four stages to find entertainment.
Period entertainers can be found roving the grounds of both parks. Be sure
to say "hello" when you see Johnny Appleseed!
Listen for the crack of the cannon near the river and find an interactive,
living history re-enactment including infantry, navy, artillery, period toys,
and medical demonstrations.
When you hear a fife and drum corps on the move, step to the side to listen
as they go by. Then, you can fall in step behind their parade! Each day at
2:00, The Gathering of the Bands will be at the
Festival Stage, showcases the
pipe, fife, and drum corps. Each of the corps will perform solo, and then
they join together for a most memorable performance of Amazing Grace.
The move to the Festival Stage
is new for 2008 to allow for more people to view this wonderful performance.
Many shows appear both days so you don't have to miss a thing! Check the
Festival Guide for a schedule of performances and map. Performances may be
canceled due to inclement weather.
Well, I hope you'll come on down and see me. I'd love to meet you and your family. See you soon!
